Catch-up: Havana Day 3

On our third day in Havana we did an open top bus tour around the city. It was good to get out of "Old Havana" where we had explored the previous two days and see the rest of the city. Again, there was plenty of contrasts - run-down buildings and somewhat newer buildings; newer types of cars sharing the road with older cars and bikes; historical sites and more modern buildings. Here's a few pics:

The massive Hotel Nacional de Cuba - a national monument and a place where many famous people have stayed

In the afternoon, we headed to the Rum Museum to see how the famous Havana Club Rum is made. We also visited a chocolate factory on the way back to the hotel. The chocolate was different to the chocolate you buy in Australia, but still tasty.
These barrells were empty ... Kathryn was disappointed!

Woo hoo ... a free sample!

It's okay ... it's a chocolate cigar!
In the evening, we ticked another item off the 'to-do' list when we went to the famous Tropicana show. It featured around 2 hours of music, singing dancing and acrobatic displays. On the way in the men got a cigar and the ladies got a flower. During the show you also get a bottle of rum and a couple of cans of cola brought to your table to drink.
